Economic sentiment in Germany is measured by the ZEW Economic Sentiment Index, which measures how optimistic economists are about the economy’s prospects for the next six months in Germany. A total of 350 financial and economic professionals are expected to participate in the study. The index is calculated as the difference between the percentage share of analysts who are optimistic about the growth of the economy and the percentage share of analysts who are pessimistic about the growth of the economy, respectively. As a result, the ZEW index gauges confidence on a scale ranging from -100 (all analysts anticipate the economy to decline) to 100 (all analysts expect the economy to improve). A 0 value implies that the situation is neutral.

A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the EUR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the EUR.
